RAT CAGE is Bryan J. Suddaby’s solo project. A one man stand against the world. Armed with guitar, bass, drums and a sick brain he brings six relentless tracks of total Sheffield mangel. • RIXE - S/T 7" [La Vida Es Un Mus]
'Coups Et Blessures' is the debut 7" EP from new Paris Oi! band RIXE. The four track EP harks back to the glory years of Bologna's finest NABAT mixed with the classic 80's French Oi! sound via RAS or L'INFANTERIE SAUVAGE and a heavy BLITZ vibe. The sound is rough, direct and angry and driven by a distorted bass and a vocalist that chews on glass for fun. Like the now defunct CRIMINAL DAMAGE, newbies Pittsburgh's NO TIME and Brest's SYNDROME 81, RIXE are the new voice of a Generation.
• SHRAPNEL "Frenzied State" 7"EP [Triple B records]
The UK boys are back with their debut 7”, Frenzied State. Not straying from their hard-hitting demo, SHRAPNEL return with six tracks of blistering, hard-hitting UKHC with late-’80s NYHC worship in the vein of BREAKDOWN, OUTBURST, and CRO-MAGS.
• SADIST - Beauty Fades 7" [Hardcore Victims]
Boston dark chain dragging hc punk. Drawing inspiration from Zouo, Kuro, Crass, Rudimentary Peni and Killing Joke but adding the Boston HC aggression to their style! 4 assaulting tracks. Comes with news print poster with words by Jex Blackmore and art by Tanya Findr.
• TR004 - SARJAN HASSAN / HIRAX split 7" [Tandang Records]
California raging thrash legion, HIRAX (started in the early 80's together with other mammoths of thrash bands, EXODUS, SLAYER, METALLICA etc) comes alive to join forces with this millennium sloshed crossover-thrash platoon from Malaysia, SARJAN HASSAN in this furious EP split. HIRAX brings out hell in their fast and brutal track while adding another champion track where they still rip hard live. SARJAN HASSAN goes on blitz with two attacks of fuming thrash tracks with the strike of that crossover slugs killing it.
• THE SLACKERS - The Boss 7" [Goodfellas]
We have been sneaking in practices at sound checks and have had recording sessions in Brooklyn and out on the road in Portland, Oregon. In trying to find our way towards a new album, we have worked with 3 producers; Vic Axelrod, Brian Dixon, and our own, Agent Jay. Each one of them has supervised the recording of 4 tunes. Vic Axelrod, also known as 'Ticklah,' is well known as a musician, engineer, and producer for Antibalas, Sharon Jones, Easy Star, and Amy Winehouse. We recorded under his supervision at his "Don't Trip" studios in Brooklyn. Brian Dixon is best known as the former guitar player of the Aggrolites, was one of the main architects of their sound, and is a respected producer out of Los Angeles. We were hoping to mix some of the West Coast 'dirty reggae' sound with some of the Slackers "Jamaican Rock N Roll" east coast sound. And last but by no means the least, we had Agent Jay supervise 4 tunes. When he is not the guitar player for the Slackers, he is one of the busiest engineers and producers in the East Coast scene! Hopefully, you guys have heard of him! With Jay we recorded at Seaside Studios in Brooklyn with Mitch Raskin as engineer. Jay has also been in charge of making dubs of many of the tunes as well.
• SOCIAL CIRCKLE "Expiration Date" 7" EP [Side Two]
SOCIAL CIRCKLE's "Expiration Date" provides 5 tracks of intense early 80's hardcore mixed with late 70's punk from all around the globe. More anger and speed than previous releases, SOCIAL CIRCKLE manages to exit on their most manic note while still maintaining the melody and catchy hooks of their 'Static Eyes' 7". Think ripping hardcore with songs you can actually remember. The follow up to 2009's 'City Shock' LP; this ep is the band's final offering.
• SHORT, FAST & LOUD #29 with Fuck You Pay Me/To The Point split 7" [Six Weeks]
Packed to the gills with amazing columns, insights and a million grind/HC/punk and doom reviews with exclusive interviews with UK political thrash legends Active Minds and Canada's grinding monsters Six Brew Bantha, this special mini-issue also comes with a split vinyl 7" with Los Angeles powerviolence kings To The Point (members of Infest, Lack Of Interest and Spazz) and Cleveland hardcore/punks Fuck You Pay Me (ex-Nine Shocks Terror, Gordon Solie Motherfuckers, H-100'S).
• SHEER MAG - I 7" [Wilsuns RC]
The debut 7" from Philadelphia's SHEER MAG finally gets a wider UK and European release! Sheer Mag seemingly came out of nowhere last Autumn with this killer four track EP. It is the only record of recent times that manages to sound like a mix of a classic Seventies rock record, power pop and an obscure English DIY 7" from the late 70's. Everything sounds scrappy, fuzzy and scuzzy and it's all the better for it. The riff packed guitar work and fuzzed female vocals sit perfectly together whilst the crude rhythms just adds bounce and basic beats. Think a mix of the power pop delight of Protex, the lo-fi nature of The Seize, the riffs of Thin Lizzy and the powerful female vocal of Suzi Quatro. It shouldn't work but it does. It really does!RM 35.00
• SHEER MAG - II 7" [Wilsuns RC]
The Philadelphia band Sheer Mag walk an interesting line. They play bluesy, choogling, Camaro-revving classic rock — straight-up Dazed & Confused-soundtrack cruise music. But they’re a DIY punk band, so they play it scrappily and noisily, with the lowest fidelity you can imagine. That’s a tough combination to pull off, but Sheer Mag do it, thanks largely to the huge voice and charisma of frontwoman Christina Halladay. The band’s new 7″ EP II is out now, and we’ve already posted “Button Up” and the “Fan The Flames” video. But you should really hear the whole thing, and you can do that below.
• SHEER MAG - III 7" [Static Shock]
The European version looks the same as US pressing, but has higher price. SHEER MAG return with another four tracker of all killers and no fillers on WILSUNS RC / STATIC SHOCK RECORDS. Nothing has changed on this record at all - it's all epic riffs, a lo-fi and compact production, hooks galore and that soulful and gritty voice you already love. 'CAN'T STOP FIGHTING' is three and a half minutes of power pop meets classic rock and sits somewhere between THE SHIVVERS and THIN LIZZY if such a place exists. 'WORTH THE TEARS' is a little cleaner, mellower and soulful. Side two opens with the scuzzy and dense 'NIGHT ISN'T BRIGHT' before the standout cut 'NOBODY'S BABY' - which sounds a 1978 classic rock hit that hints at JUDAS PRIEST's 'LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT' and KISS in their prime. It's an instant pop nugget that sounds like a time long gone.
• SCAPEGOAT "Self Titled" 7"EP [Painkiller records]
Debut 10 song ep from this new Boston band. Taking the best elements from Infest, Crossed Out, Manpig and the likes and adding a heavy dose of youthful energy and aggression. Third pressing with non-poster sleeve.
• SCAB EATER - Constant Failure 7" [Hardcore Victim]
Out now on Hardcore Victim with Distribtuion by Havoc. New band from Australia whose demo caused quite a stir. Raw and distorted hardcore with a pounding beat, reminds me somewhat of the NYC bands of the last few years. Has solid roots in punk, but squeezed through a crusty filter of noise and distortion.
• SYSTEMATIC DEATH "Systema-8" 7" [Even Worse]
One of the bands that paved the way for Japanese Hardcore since the early 80's and still going strong today!! 4 new killer tracks by these old Yokohama trashers, just in time for their backdrop eurotour in september 2011. Kanpai! RM 25
• SMART BOYS - s/t 7" [DERANGED]
Mike Haliechuk and Jonah Falco from Fucked Up team up like Jonesy and Paul Cook to tap the melody and simplicity of what they already know about writing music and fire it even further into the endless prism of the late 70s. Ribbony Bowie-esque vocals over big guitars and heavy drums nodding to Northern Ireland, Northern England, and other anachronistic punk pleasures. RM 23

• THISCLOSE - Fear and Terror EP [No Future records]
Another two-song single straight from the northern outpost of Grave New Beat. One totally raging short/fast/loud song, one seriously HaRd rocking mid-tempo number that's quintessential Thisclose style, the perfect play on later-era Discharge. Listening to these might make you think that later-era Discharge was actually a good idea. Throw this in with the Price We Pay EP as the quintessential Thisclose records.
• TAX - 'S/T' 7" EP [No Patience Records]
The debut self-titled EP from Melbourne’s TAX, featuring members of LAKES, ZOND, and more. Brooding sonic frustration captured and reproduced. Brittle guitar meets imposing bass put to an ever pounding drum. This is post punk with a decidedly darker edge taking influence from groups like ANTISECT and KILLING JOKE but mixing it with a distinctly Australian energy. Rock and roll baking under a hot sun. The sound the smiths hammer makes as it hits glowing red steel. Pure. Australian. Nihilism. 2 track 7” with jukebox hole, housed in a crisp white card jacket with printed inner sleeve. LIMITED DEEP BLUE VINYLRM 30
• ULTRA - Mistica Modena 7" [La Vida Es Un Mus]
Ultra are a raging anarchist Barcelona band made up of half Absurdo and half Anarquia Vertical members. Their second EP is a 7 tracker full of short, intense and pissed off fireballs. It's chaotic but well played and recorded and hints at the Golden age of European hardcore mixed with Heresy and Crucifix. Mística Moderna comes housed in a 300 gsm pocket sleeve with 2 inserts and download code.

• VIOLENT REACTION "Self Titled" 7"ep [6131 records]
Few UK hardcore bands have garnered as much attention stateside as VIOLENT REACTION, the one-man project of Liverpool’s Tom Pimlott. • WARTHOG s/t 7" [Beach Impedement]
NYC hardcore punks WARTHOG return with what could possibly be their best recorded output yet. It's been a couple years since their EP's on Katorga Works and Iron Lung Records were unleashed upon us all and in that time the members of the Hog have perfected their particular formula and have finally delivered four more tracks of pounding hardcore savagery that stands out ten fold from most of the bullshit that fans of the genre are bombarded with on a regular basis.
