• ASFIXIA / ANNUNAKI REVENGE - split LP [Stonehenge Records]
Without hesitation on seeing this beautiful primal aesthetic cover, I had to stick it on. A hand-screened foldout cover with a twenty page booklet of lyrics and lyric explanations is great material to flick through while listening to an album. Asfixia from Bilbao (Basque country) are powerful yet sublime. They have this really raw crisp sound, dark and melodic at times with great rasping vocals. But now unfortunately are split up since 2007. Also included on this is a great version of the song ‘Product’ by the old German crust band Lost World.
Annunaki Revenge who are on the next side are also from the Basque country. Their side consists of six songs of crusty hardcore with gruff vocals. They but me in mind at times of the ferocious crusty Greek punk of the early nineties/late eighties. Then other times it can be very melodic but still very intense. As far as I’m aware they sing impassionately of the absence of hope in modern life. The release is a benefit for an anarchist printing collective based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque country. - REVIEW from PROFANE EXISTENCE
• CONVERGE "You Fail Me Redux" LP [Deathwish records]
“You Fail Me” from Converge is the classic follow up to their landmark “Jane Doe” full length album. Originally released in 2004, the brute force and emotional power on “You Fail Me” is unparalled. Solidifying their reign in the genre that they have defined for over two decades. Never quite content with the original mix, “You Fail Me” Redux was remixed by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his God City studios. The release was also remastered by Alan Douches (Motorhead, Mastodon), and repackaged by vocalist/artist Jacob Bannon.
• COLISEUM - Anxiety's Kiss LP - Semi Transparent Brown [Deathwish]
“Anxiety’s Kiss” is the latest album from Coliseum, recorded at The Magpie Cage by producer/engineer J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines). “Anxiety’s Kiss” is a hook-laden maturation of the Coliseum sound. Nods to their early D-Beat leanings are there, but it is their willingness to embrace Post-Punk melody and explore the space between notes that make “Anxiety’s Kiss” so alluring. Confidently growing within the punk world, without ever leaving it behind.

• CURSED - Two LP [Deathwish]
The highly anticipated vinyl repress of "Two", the sophmore album from Cursed. This new superior version of "Two" was manufactured using brand new pressing plates, making the release sound more monstrous than ever before. All of it presented in a gatefold jacket with revamped artwork and packaging. This is the second in a series of singular represses of the entire Cursed full length catalog from Deathwish ("One" is now available). Cursed "Two" and "Three" albums were originally released by the defunct Goodfellow label, and are under exclusive license to Deathwish from Sonic Unyon Distribution.A final limited box set of all three albums and a book of Cursed related material by Chris Colohan will be released later down the road via a partnership of Deathwish and Colohan's own label, High Anxiety. • CONVERGE - "All We Love We Leave Behind" 2xLP [Deathwish] - OPAQUE RED color vinyl.
Converge need little introduction as they have been innovating and bending the rules of metallic hardcore since 1990, influencing scores of copycats and delivering some of the most forward-thinking and sonically abrasive hardcore ever heard. This new album continues to blaze a new path over 17 tracks of desperation led by the scathing guitar work of Kurt Ballou and tortured howls of frontman Jacob Bannon. Creating what is being considered the best album of their legendary two decade long reign as kings of the genre. "All We Love We Leave Behind" is a double album comes packaged in a reverse board gatefold jacket, printed with silver embossing.
• CITY OF CATERPILLAR - Self Titled LP [Repeater Records] - COKE BOTTLE color vinyl.
City of Caterpillar’s groundbreaking full length LP is finally back in print after 14 years. One of the first bands to successfully merge post-rock and hardcore together, with complex and intense build-ups that led into bursts of rage and chaos, City Of Caterpillar’s short lived existence from 2000 – 2003 has had a major influence on the hardcore/punk scenes since the original release of this LP back in 2002. They were able to capture the dynamic sounds of Godspeed! You Black Emperor with bands like Portraits of Past and Pg. 99. City of Caterpillar shared members with Pg. 99 and members went onto bands such as Iron Reagan, Darkest Hour, Highness, Malady, Haram and Ghastly City Sleep. The LP comes with newly redesigned artwork by guitarist/vocalist of City of Caterpillar, Brandon Evans, who also designed the original artwork. Comes with a digital download card.
• ELIZABETH "Where Vulture Land" LP - Deluxe Edition [Throatruiner records]
“Get in the van” as a leitmotiv; ELIZABETH is one of those bands that have understood that the strongest reputations could be only built on the road. Thus, this last year, their home-recorded demo has been enough to let them travel through the whole Europe and shared nearly forty stages with the upper crust of european hardcore/punk. With“Where Vultures Land”, their debut EP, these swiss carve their way into the heaviest and most intense branch of their scene, alongside of bands such as Converge, Rise And Fall or The Hope Conspiracy. Twenty minutes played with a constant energy, which is demultiplied by the unmerciful rusted vocals of Javier (with an heavy burden in the matter as an ex-Nostromo). More than enough to one of the most promising bands of the european scene, now you’re warned. Includes free poster and sticker.
• FAILURES decline and fall LP [Adagio830]
Failures unveil their magnum opus dissonance with Decline and Fall. It is a work years in the making, of painstaking scrutiny and craftsmanship, delivered in an agonized effort to boil down the very essence of what it means to endure the habitual torments of existence. In just over 14 minutes these 14 songs dissect the intricacies and endless defeats that coincide with our fruitless pursuit of happiness and fulfillment, and illustrate how, by rendering these hopeless, baseless projections of our deepest insecurities, we come to define our demise as the very core of our lives. Humanity’s toil may endure, but whether we drag along for the ride or tumble off into a ditch to rot makes no difference either way. The records comes w/ two panel fold out cover and insert - art by Mark McCoy
• GEHENNA Negotium Perambulans In Tenebris 12" [A389]
This is the Infamous GEHENNA's first full length release from 2000. This is pure savage/raw brutality showing the band at their leanest and meanest. Remastered with gatefold packaging/poster insert and bonus track!!!
NOTE: Bonus 7" contains three rarities from the GEHENNA vaults. Never before released on vinyl!!!
FFO: Integrity / G.I.S.M. / Hellhammer
• JACK AND THE BEARDED FISHERMAN "No place to hide" LP [Slow death records]
Following their formation in 2005, these gentle, not-so-hairy fishermen have sailed the East coast of France under the undisputed authority of their captain Jack. Though the crew of this intruiging ship may have changed slightly at their last few ports of call, they are currently docked in Besançon, their helm still fixed firmly in the same direction. Taking into their itinery the nehanderthal blues, they will cross through troubled waters and musical fury. They will navigate between melody and impatience, skirting still pools of tension and waves of explosion...' Another great request from France. These guys play the heavy/ alternative stoner rock. An epic, fresh & influenced sound in the likes of Dozer, QOTSA,.. hard to describe actually, I noticed there are some interesting patterns in some of the tracks. Some post-metal (think Isis, Pelican) came to mind, take the mighty instrumental conclusion of the second track for example. All in all this is a great album in a solid production!
• LIVING EYES "Who Will Remain" LP [Deathwish records]
A crude time capsule of 2012 U.S. Hardcore played with pulverizing earnest intensity. Living Eyes follow up their last year's "Starve for Agony" 7"EP with an eleven song raging beast: "Who Will Remain?". Straight and to the point hardcore architecture exacted with maniacal and raw playing, overt bass/drum rhythm driven intensity with screaming chaotic distorted guitar, harsh guttural vocals. A stomper start to finish.
• LOMA PRIETA - Self Portrait LP - White [Deathwish Records]
"Self Portrait" is a ten song masterwork from Loma Prieta. It was recorded by engineer Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden Recording Studio (Deafheaven). Opener "Love" layers unorthodox melodies amid a tangle of pensive, despondent vocals. These humanly complex qualities loudly bleed into every aspect of the album. Driven by feedback drenched guitar work "Black Square", "Roadside Cross", "Net Gain", and "More Perfect" all effortlessly veer from one post everything sub-genre to the next. Leading to the beautifully skewed "Nostalgia", a song that creeps from the haze with dark harmonic leanings. "Never Remember", "Merciless", and "Rings" venture down a similar crash and bang path before closer "Satellite" takes flight. An emotional epic that delves deep into introspection before finding total sonic obliteration.
• NEW LOWS "Abhorrent Endings" 12"EP [Deathwish]
New Lows are one of Boston's heaviest bands, taking inspiration from legends like Ringworm, (early) Bolt Thrower, and others. Their previous release "Harvest of the Carcass" (Deathwish 2011) was highly praised by kids and critics worldwide as one of the heaviest releases of that year. A release that led to New Lows infamously touring the United States with Nails, Ringworm, and label mates Bitter End. "Abhorrent Endings" is the latest offering from New Lows. A crude five song crusher that shows the band digging into the rubble in search of something darker and heavier than ever before. A purposefully unpolished and brilliantly flawed exercise in aural chaos that will leave you bruised yet wanting more.
• мища / Pansori / DEERS! / Animal Lover / ColorChromaticLP [Bear records]
Finally, almost here. This split contains DEERS! final recordings, a bunch of songs from ColorChromatic, new songs from Miischa, Animal Lover, and Pansori. Basically, a great compilation of a lot of good screamo/punk type bands from around the country.!
ORCHID "Gatefold" LP [Ebullition]
The final recordings of Orchid. These nineteen tracks are probably the best songs that Orchid ever recorded. Their sound has been honed and defined, and the recording perfectly captures Orchid's diverse combination of arty sensibilities, heartfelt emotive song writing, Mohinder-esque drumming, frantic precision, controlled mayhem, and chaotic adrenaline. An excellent record that even surpasses their previous releases. Definitely Orchid's opus. Both the CD and LP come packaged in gatefold sleeves. The various Orchid members have gone on to form Bucket Full of Teeth, the Wolves, Ampere, and the Panthers.
• THE CAUTION CHILDREN - Unknown Lands LP [Bear records]

• INFARTO(The Infarto, Scheisse!) - Sul Fondo, Insieme ATutti Gli Altri Sassi LP with CD [Bear records]
Formerly known as The Infarto, Scheisse!, these Italians have been playing messed up screamo hardcore for over six years now. Releases have been once every three years but whenever one has come along it hasn't been far off top notch. They are probably one of the most underated screamo bands around, having conjured their own unique sound right from the start without really being much credit it seems, and furthermore struggling to find gigs outside their native land. There's something about spoken vocals in Italian... here they are frequent and urgent sounding, lying on top of the band's chaotic sound and combined effectively with Nat's screams. There are five songs in total, the standouts are the first songs on each side: 'Kichtung Kreuzberg' starts the album off perfectly whilst 'Nessun Nome Numero Due' recaptures the tempo at the halfway mark. The latter clocks in at six minutes, as do a number of the other songs; Infarto have never been about making things short and simple. Overall, this is another great record from these guys and it's beautifully packaged. There have not been many screamo albums out this year it must be said but this will end up as one of the best.! • PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS - Mercy LP - Transparent Purple [Deathwish]
Planes Mistaken For Stars formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1997, and relocated to Denver Colorado in 1999. From the outset, they were an artistic anomaly; carrying both a worn rust belt heart a warm midwestern soul. Collectively the band combined different kinds of musical rebellion; hardcore aggression, punk energy, and gritty rock n’ roll spirit into their own special noise. Ultimately laying the blueprint for today’s emotional punk rock resurgence. Deathwish is proud to announce the reissue of “Mercy” from Planes Mistaken For Stars, their much-beloved and highly influential 2006 album. Along with newly revamped packaging, this definitive version has also been remastered from the original 1/2” tapes by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege (Sunn O))), Modern Life Is War), sonically making it more powerful and textural than ever before. Produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Cursive) “Mercy” is a beautifully dark and melodious masterwork that is affecting in ways rarely experienced. Each of its eleven songs is a haunting yet hopeful personal tale, vulnerable but vicious in tone. Genre bending and ground breaking in their ability to intimately connect with listeners from all walks of life.

• ROT IN HELL "As pearl before swine" LP [Deathwish records]
Rot In Hell are a brutally raw and unrelenting UK punk/hardcore band. They epitomize the "Holy Terror" Cleveland spawned sound, popularized by bands like Integrity and Ringworm, and inject their own mutation into the festering contemporary hardcore/punk cesspool.Without a doubt, Rot In Hell are truly as grim as they come. And their "As Pearls Before Swine" proves that there is still something wild, untamable, and truly dangerous lurking in the shadows of today's hardcore/punk community. It's time to welcome their brand of darkness with open arms.
• SAETIA - Collection 2xLP [Secret Voice]
SAETIA disbanded after only three years (1997-2000), but in that short amount of time they created music that would live on to be the forefront of the genre. Based out of NYC, the band made their home at CBGB’s, ABC No Rio, and basements across the East Coast. Their style of melodic, abrasive, and emotive punk / hardcore still captures new audiences today. In their short time, Saetia released a demo cassette, two 7”s, and one LP with pressings of very small numbers. Obtaining these come with near impossible searches and deep pockets. This collection will finally make available the entire discography for vinyl lovers. This 180Gram 2xLP comes with a glued in 15 page book that includes photos, flyers, lyrics, and newly written reflections by multiple members to celebrate the bands history.
• SECT self titled LP [Self Released] - RED VINYL
With two countries and four hometowns between them, Sect was born when two project ideas between tour mates merged into the same experiment, finally taking shape in 2015 and culminating in recording sessions in Raleigh NC in early 2016. Sect is comprised of five veterans of ‘90s hardcore who cut their teeth in that formative moment of political, cynical, antagonistic extremes. They each went on to put in their time in bands spanning all corners of the hardcore and xvx worlds, though they’d rather skip the ex-members talk entirely and get right down to the blast beats and breakdowns that fight it out in their chaotic jams - aka cut the shit and go for the throat. Because the Orwellian police states and irreparable social and ecological disasters we once saw off on the horizon are now on our front doorsteps, in full swing - and in just such a volatile, precarious moment as this for civilization, there is more reason than ever to keep lashing out at a world more suicidally bent on its own destruction and the exploitation of people, species and the ecosystem itself, than perhaps ever before in history. For Sect, this is the purpose of hardcore as they know it, conveying an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action.
• SVFFER "Lies we live" LP [Vendetta Records]
From the demise of the mighty and forever missed ALPINIST come SVFFER, a German ultra-violent hardcore band that blew our fucking minds with their self-titled demo. Now, less than a year after that release, they return with a humongous barrage of hardcore annihilation in the form of this mauling full length album called Lies We Live. What is shocking about this release is how unpredictable and totally nuts it is. The guitar work, especially, is insane, and the riffs feel like a fucking wasp nest of terror. Shit flies around so abruptly and violently in this album that you feel like you have been sucked into a tornado and are being tossed around like a helpless rag doll, endlessly beaten and kicked around by the band for a full half hour of bloody fucking wreckage.
• THE REVEREND JESSE CUTTER BAND "Perpetual Victims" 10" [Less talk records]
These Canberra grindpals are awesome, awesome, AWESOME. Seriously, I struggle to think of a more exciting Australian live band at this point in time. Every single time I've seen these guys play, I've been blown away and they just keep getting better. The Reverend Jesse Custer mix up seething metallic hardcore, with gritty sludge, frenetic grind, feedback, fury and groove. As a band they're never sitting still. Their compositions are as intelligent as they are enjoyable. A single-tempo genre band these guys definitely are not.
• SCOLD FOR WANDERING / STELLARFRIVE split LP
Scold For Wandering play epic French screamo with some postrock influences, similar to bands like Daitro, Sed Non Satiata, Celeste or Mihai Edrish. Melodic but still heavy. Stellardrive (ex-Gantz) play some intense and heavy postrock in the vein of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky or maybe Cult of Luna. Dark and stirring but still soaring, concise and cheery.
• TERROR - Lowest Of The Low LP [Reaper]
Throughout the twelve-year history of TERROR, we have had many ups and downs, countless triumphs and setbacks. Through the years, and for better or worse, TER- ROR has gone through several record labels. In 2004 we linked up with Trustkill Records to release One With The Underdogs and in 2006 Always The Hard Way was also released by the label. Aside from those albums, Trustkill reissued Lowest Of The Low (originally on Bridge 9) in 2005 and also released a DVD called The Living Proof in 2006. Singer Scott Vogel says “Looking back, Trustkill was pretty good to us. That was when records still sold and for how young of a band we were, Josh was really pushing TERROR. To be honest, we don’t know the ins and outs of what happened. But in the end, Trustkill Records folded and with that, some of our best records went out of press. They have been off the radar for many years. With the help of some friends, and after some strings being pulled, TERROR has for the rights back for all of these releases.” Lowest Of The Low is the classic debut record from Los Angeles’ finest.
• TOUCHE AMORE - Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me LP - Grey Marble [Deathwish Records]
In "Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me", Touche Amore's creative formula is driven by emotional affect, not contemporary studio effects. In the purest form possible, raw shouted vocals and clean manic guitars fight for volume over roomy bass and percussion. Creating a sound that is shockingly simple as it is emotionally engaging. The serene and fragile opening notes of "Tilde" serve as the album's introductory serenade before Touche Amore pound and jangle into the hook-laden song. And seconds later, when vocalist/lyricist Jeremy Bolm screams "...I'm parting the sea between brightness and me...", a tone of desperation sets in that resonates throughout the duration of the album. His straight forward cries convincingly tell his own personal story. To some, this lyrical writing could read as a diary based purely in self deprecation, but his words cut and pull from a much deeper place in the heart. Serving as an open window into his constant soul searching amid life's constant trials and tribulations. Songs like "Home Away From Here" and "Sesame" are great examples of this, infectious in their sound and moving lyrical spirit. While "Method Act" and the emotional "Condolences" show the band experimenting with epic leanings while maintaining their beloved trademark character.
• UNION OF URANUS - Disaster By Design LP [La Familia]
This is a officical re-release with a one-time pressing of 500 copies only! - (Union of) Uranus were around in the early to mid 1990’s and released a demo tape called the “Backhand Demo”, which was later to become their side of the elusive split LP with His Hero Is Gone, a split EP with Quebec crusty band Immoral Squad and the "Disaster By Design" 12"/ double EP. (Union of) Uranus wrote some of the first pages of hardcore screamo. Rough, crude, dark and uncompromising HARDCORE that ripped you apart. Physically as well as emotinonally. Outstanding stuff! Artwork is completely reworked and new! Members of Uranus went to play in bands like Speedy Huffler Kings, Chokehold, Rammer, and Hacksaw, Dead Man’s Right Hand, and of course His Hero Is Gone and Tragedy!
• ZONA MEXICANA - s/t 10 inch [Bear records]
"It sounds almost as if City Of Caterpillar had invaded an Algernon Cadwallader recording and poured every bit of passion they had in their souls to the point that not even Hades would want them or something like that." - Differentpeople.co.uk. 4 songs from this wonderful band.
